Jackie and Patton Oswalt backstage at The Largo

How does one go about meeting someone famous? Innocently, We had bought tickets to Patton Oswalt and Friends at The Largo in Beverly Hills. Art had gotten me some positive experiences with the band Ghost Town. But that was the Internet. What could art do for me here? So, doing what I do best, I drew a portrait with his jokes around him. What's the harm? When the piece was done, I contacted him through Facebook.

He thought it was cool! He responded promptly! I asked if he could sign it, sometime at his show on 9/13/14. It was a long shot, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease, right? And like that, he put Me and Kyle on the Backstage Guest List and to meet him before the show!

The door men knew my name! They attended to me, kept us updated and it was a really swanky affair!

A few minutes before nine, we got to scurry backstage and hung out in the redroom. Literally, it was a red lit space with mirrors and fun rugs, very artsy. "Pat, Jackie's in the other room."  First name basis? Which was met with an, "Oh great!"

He was so humble and a complete gentleman! He signed the drawing with an extreme happiness. He shook our hands, intent on knowing our names and faces. He hoped we enjoyed the show and said art was beyond what he deserved. Clearly, the single best hands on, celebrity experience I had ever had.

This, most definitely, is one for the Hall of Frame.
