Lover, don't you recognize me?

The Paradise lost, book II, Satan goes to escape hell. Guarding the nine gates is a shadow and a serpent woman. Confronting them, the serpent woman reveals that she was in the inner most rank of the Seraphim and that she and Stan were lovers on the eve of the great fall. Now, her name is Sin. Part angel, part victim, part offender, part snake.
Satan was shocked, with no memory of this. And his son is Death. Death violently tore himself from the loins of Sin and raped his mother. And He continuously keeps preying upon her since he is insatiable. She too, was forever hungry but death is so empty, he cannot feed her.


Paradise lost just keeps getting better and better! This woman was his first conspirator in the inner sanctum. And Satan doesn't recognize her. Earlier in the passage they talk about river Lethe, the waters of forgetfulness and it's eluded to that Satan may have landed there. She was the last kicked out, and God charged her with guarding the keys to the gate. Satan asks her to open them and promises that he will make her his queen again. 


She's like, yeah ok. And opens the gates, saying that God was no longer her creator. Satan was her king now. And Satan is like, "Cool. Totally coming back for you guys." They open up with a key stroke.

So I was so captivated by the idea of Satan forgetting the partner in crime he loved and she was damned to pain, agony, rape and mutation. That together they created death and death is an asshole apex predator. "...And Death had a grin that made hell darker."
